The district court’s judgment in the bribery trial
The construction contractor sentenced for aggravated bribery on two occasions, aggravated bookkeeping offense during the years 2014, 2016 and 2017 and for aggravated tax control during the years 2015 and 2018. The sentence will be three years’ imprisonment and a ban on business for five years. His company will also pay a fine of SEK 3 million.
Östersundshem’s former CEO Daniel Kindberg is sentenced for a case of aggravated bribery, aiding and abetting a serious accounting offense in the years 2014, 2016 and 2017, and for aiding and abetting aggravated tax control in 2015. He is sentenced to two years and six months in prison and he is banned from business for three year. He must also pay a total of SEK 5,545,000 to the state for what he has received in bribes. The two companies from which Daniel Kindberg invoiced must pay a fine of SEK 500,000 each.
Östersundshem’s former vice president Hans Carlsson is convicted of aggravated bribery on two occasions, aiding and abetting a serious accounting offense in the years 2014, 2016 and 2017, and of aiding and abetting aggravated tax control in the years 2015 and 2018. He is sentenced to imprisonment for two years and eight months and is banned from doing business during three years. He must also pay back to the state the amount he received in bribes, a total of SEK 4,924,896. The two companies from which Hans Carlsson invoiced must pay a fine of SEK 500,000 each.
The previous the foreman at Peab is sentenced for gross giving of bribe and infidelity against the principal to a suspended sentence and 180 daily fines of SEK 430, a total of SEK 77,400. He must pay damages to Peab of SEK 179,896 regarding the apartment renovation to a relative of Hans Carlsson that Peab was responsible for.
The previous the regional manager at Peab released from the suspicions of aiding and abetting infidelity against the principal. This applies to the part of the indictment that concerns a sewage tank that must have been installed on the former foreman’s private property and paid for by Peab. The foreman is also acquitted on that point.
