Follows the incident with “Saipem 7000” closely

On Thursday morning, it was reported that the crane vessel had capsized in the Åmøyfjord near Stavanger as a result of an incident.

– The Norwegian Maritime Directorate will follow up with inspections and port state control as soon as possible, it is stated in a message from the directorate on Thursday afternoon.

It is reported that there were 275 people on board when the incident occurred. Everyone has been evacuated and accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.

It is now being investigated whether there has been pollution in the sea as a result of the accident, according to the police.

It was around 10 o’clock on Thursday morning that the crane ship capsized in the Åmøyfjord outside Stavanger. “Saipem 7000”, is one of the world’s largest crane ships. It can be partially submerged and has two cranes that can lift up to 7000 tons each.
